“Corruption Probe Hampering Hargeisa Airport Revenue” Editorial Says an Economist Abdi Ali Dakir

Abdi Ali Dakir further says that half of the monthly airport income goes in the hands of Mohamoud Hashi, Minister of Presidency. It is reported that there are too many cases of corruptions hampering Hargeisa Airport which are mostly involved in areas of  income generation   and staffing process.

 Hargeisa Airport is one of the most important income sources for the country, which is expected to   spur economic growth and make Somaliland a hub for regional transportation.  The airport produces millions of dollars for the Government , but it is said that the  income goes in the wrong hand  and is  hampered by corruption.

“Private companies that operate in the  airport  are  part and parcel of those committing the corruption “ says  Abdi Ali Dakir  an economist ,Somaliland citizen in UK. Abdi Ali Dakir  further says that half of the monthly   airport  income  goes in the hands  of Mohamoud Hashi, Minister of Presidency.

“The airport generates  two Million Dollars  per month  and  50% of this  amount goes in the  personal account of  Mohamoud Hashi, former  civil aviation  Minister  and  currently serving as presidency Minister” says  Abdi Ali Daakir.

On the other hand the economist Abdi Ali Dakir noted that there are gemstones and minerals exported through the airport with exempted tax having unknown  exporter and yet sounds  mysterious about where they are exported to ?

The economist continues to say that there are laptops and  telephones belonging  to Mohamoud Hashi which  are imported  through the airport.

“Everyone is aware of  that there are  laptops  and other trading commodities  belonging  to Mohamoud Hashi which are imported via the airport  and at the  end  taken to  Wajale town  for  sale” He added.

At the  conclusion  the Economist Abdi Ali Dakir  noted that the youth residing nearby the airport are unemployed  and  have nothing benefits  for the airport.
